A Brief Look at Medicine in University of Turin

The typical academic year follows this structure:

The typical academic year is composed of a first semester that begins on the first of October and a second semester that begins on the first of March. Within the semesters there are scheduled lesson periods and exam session periods. You can find better information at this link:

Q: What are the subjects of the First year?:

Currently only the first year is active, so the subjects of the first semester are: Physics, Preparatory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Genetics, Introduction to Medicine and English Language. Q: Are the professors fluent in English? Can I easily understand them?

There is no feedback from the students since only the first year is active. We will be able to give you more information in the future.

Q: What about exams? What are they like? Oral/written?

The examination procedure stipulates that each examination shall be conducted by means of a written test and an oral examination.

Q: What are the tuition fees and living expenses?

Q: I heard some universities offer Free Italian language courses? Is it the same for Turin too?

Here at MedInTo first year students are expected to have a course of upgrading English and Italian. Other courses are promoted by University of Turin, you can find more information about them at this link:

Q: Do we study in the morning or afternoon? How are the classes organised?

The first-year student’s lesson time is 4 hours in the morning, from 9 am to 1 pm, and 4 hours in the afternoon, from 2 pm to 6 pm. For the next years, student’s lesson time is only 4 hours in the afternoon, to allow students to attend traineeships in the morning.

Q: What about accommodation?

There are a number of private individuals who rent students’ litters in areas close to university locations. With regard to students with economic needs, the University Law Enforcement Authority dictates a number of places for university residences. you can find more information at this link:

Q: What are the clinical years like in Italy/Turin?

The MedInTo study plan expects that the first clinical examinations will be supported from the second year with the examination of Clinical Methodology and Medical Semeiotics. You can consult the study plan in detail in the following link:
