2025 IMAT Rankings and Cut Offs | Updated Weekly

We are continuously updating this page with the cutoff scores and ranking lists for every public medical and dentistry uni in Italy offering an English programme. As of 21st of December, this list is correctly up-to-date. The list is updated every Monday by universitaly, and consequently here.

The 2025 IMAT rankings were released on Monday, 13th of October. Universitaly for EU students, and the specific universities for Non-EU IMAT candidates. You can find below the number of seats for each university based on the 2025 list, and their current cut-off score. EU cut-off scores will change for quite some time due to scrolling, so we will continue updating the page through out the next few months. The EU seat numbers are according to this official document by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MUR), and the non-EU seats from this official document.

You can also compare this years score changes with:

Important Information

In order to enrol online in universities students have received an offer from, candidates must use the FISCAL CODE (codice fiscale) generated on Universitaly. Later, they have to obtain the OFFICIAL FISCAL CODE from an Agenzie Delle Entrate. Here is an overview of Italian bureaucracy to help guide you. After the deadline for enrollment into the university, the online procedure will not be available, and not-properly registered candidates will be considered as renouncing.

EU students who have not received an offer should MAKE SURE TO CONFIRM THEIR INTEREST TO STAY IN THE RANKING. Scrolling can go on for weeks, and you might still have a chance to be offered a seat.

2025 EU IMAT SCORES

*The scores have been extremely variable round to round, with some scores going up. There are a few factors causing this. The first one is that initially many students were inserted into the incorrect ranking (EU vs Non-EU) that then got adjusted and corrected resulting in more people in the ranking. The other is that a lot of students instead of waiting for scrolling enrolled into a lower choice in their personal ranking, and so seats freeing up are being offered to students higher in the ranking that aren’t their first choice. A more detailed explanation of this will be coming soon, and the final cut off will not be a match for the current lowest cut off in that round. If that sounds confusing don’t worry, we’ll be explaining it a lot better soon!

2025 NON-EU IMAT CUT-OFFS

Due to the Marco Polo programme between Italy and China since 2006, some universities reserve certain non-EU seats for Chinese students, colloquially referred to as “Marco Polo seats”. Universities often have additional requirements for such Chinese international students.

However, these spots often remain unfilled and are often allocated to the non-EU seat pool. For example, in 2024 Pavia had a total of 40 non-EU seats, 5 of which were reserved for Chinese students. However, since only 1 Chinese student applied, a total of 39 seats were allocated to non-EU, non-Chinese students.

  1. Hi, do you think Catania will go back to having 30 EU and 30 non-EU seats next year? I think the reason they accept only non-EU applicants this year is that, in the first year of the program, they accepted only EU applicants, so this year they are making up for that.

  2. Is it possible for EU with final score 43.7 who confirm weekly his interest till the end to stay in the national ranking to secure a university place if no one’s else wants it ???

  3. Hey 👋 I know there isn’t much you could do to help me here but I just need another perspective, I scored 59.1 and I was planning to scroll to Padua. Today it didn’t drop a single point. The gap between me and the last booked candidate is 16 seats including those who’ve renounced or enrolled should I wait or just enroll in my booked seat. FYI In the first round the gap was exactly 49 candidates.

      1. Please don’t be sorry, you have actually shown that other IMAT-related websites all vamp from your work… Well done AcadIMAT, you are the best…!!

  4. When the university will update the second merit list of the non European students. Pls any can tell me. I have apply in anncona. My percentage is 57.2. I’m on the 72 number. The first merit list was closed on 58.2 for 60 students.

  5. Hi, thank for doing this and congratulations for the website/blog!
Quick question: I am a Italian citizen but my wife is not, she wants to take IMAT 2026. If we move to Italy and she gets the Permesso di Soggiorno, can she compete for an EU seat?
What are the requirements for the EU seats?
Thank you in advance for your kind support!

    1. Is she has the permesso di soggiorno, she will be considered EU by most of the universities. However every university has different requirements, for example one might accept just having it, whereas another might require having it for at least 12 months. You should email the unis to get their official stance and requirements.

      1. Thank you very much for getting back to me! We will follow your suggestion and hopefully get a couple universities that could just accept the PdS. It’s taking a very long time to get it.

  6. I’m still not able to access my non EU ranking or score for Bologna to this day. Is anyone else having the same problem?

      1. Hi, regarding the seats left for EU, does it mean that the grades can get lower? For example Siena has 33 seats left and the last grade is around 54.3, how much lower can it get when the 33rd person is reached? I’m confused. Thank you!

  7. 1.is it possible if any eu seats are unfilled say till the end of first semester then they are offered to Non EU.Like in cagliari they have nearly 8-10 seats (EU) vacant from last year.
2.Do you it is practically possible for anyone to renounce his/her seat cagliari accepts 20 ,my rank is 22. For me to get a seat 2 people have to renounce it I don’t it’s possible given there are 20 people

      1. Our theory is that a lot of people this year were incorrectly inserted into EU vs Non-EU lists. The score went up because the mistake was corrected, so a lot more people were inserted into the EU list esp at the top causing the score discrepancy.
